About Me

Susanna Banks Art

Prints and illustrations to make you smile.

Hello! I’m the face behind Susanna Banks Art. I make prints using a mix of monotype, illustrations, cut paper pictures, typography and colour.

I'm mum to Polly and Thomas, pet-mum to Jessie and Moon, and wife to Chris. When I'm not keeping everyone happy, I'm usually making or drawing!

There are a couple of strands to my art practice. Both of these strands of work are heavily influenced by my love of children’s illustration, childhood and childlike memories, written word and stories, and my experience of those around me.

Having first specialised in Fine Art: Painting at Belfast School of Art, my fine art practice is perhaps more abstract and personal to my own experience in faith and life, it takes the form of painting on canvas and monotype printmaking.

And since having Polly in 2016 my work has transitioned slightly to make room for being mummy to this whirlwind of love and craziness that is Polly Banks. This new strand that you now see is Susanna Banks Art. It takes from my love of colour and composition and all things childlike and translates it into this product range of prints and illustrations that should hopefully(!) make you smile.

Susanna Banks Art then as a business took wings and started up officially in August 2018, and since then I’ve been growing slowly in confidence and in my product range, working out my bestsellers and creating new things all the time. I firstly took to Etsy.com and then to working out the best craft fairs and markets for me and my business. And now I am here. Online. On my shiny new website! Pinch me!

I am based 5 minutes from Scrabo Tower in Newtownards, not far from Belfast. Most of my work is created by hand and printed at home onto high quality recycled FAVINI 250gsm cardstock and packaged into biodegradable cello sleeves with a recycled stiffened board to keep them flat.
